Minimo (Mozilla for Pocket PC) Version .005 Released

Aximsite – Minimo .005 released

The project to create a Mozilla-based browser for Windows Mobile devices, called Minimo (“mini-mozilla”, minimal, get it? ;-), has been floating around for a while, but this is the first downloadable release that I’ve seen.

I’ve downloaded it, and I’ll definitely give it spin. Look for impressions here after I’ve used it. In the mean time, go grab a copy for yourself, and let me know what you think.

  1. Josh, have you gotten it to run on your Axim? I know that they had to repost the .005 release because some people couldn’t get it to run on their device.

  2. Yes, I was able to get it to run. Actually, it started up pretty quickly, and while it still has it’s pre-alpha blemishes, it did run and render pages. Lots of UI work to do, of course, but it’s promising, especially if they can come up with something similar to Firefox in features and performance.

  3. I downloaded and tried it on my Mio 168 and it worked well.
Whilst there is still a lot of work to do, I am sure that the finished product will be the best pocket PC browser out.
I can’t wait for the next version.
