Creative Zen Micro Remote CAN Turn the Player On

In the last TinyPodcast, I said that one of the “cons” about the wired inline remote for my new Creative Zen Micro MP3 player was that you couldn’t turn the player on from the remote. That meant that I had to fish it out of my pocket to turn it on, and then I could control it from the remote.

This morning, I discovered (almost accidentally, partly as a hunch) that you CAN turn the Zen Micro on with the remote – just hit and hold the Play/Pause button for a few seconds. The player takes a couple of seconds to boot up (still quite fast, though), and it doesn’t automatically start playing, so you have to hit Play/Pause on the remote again, but at least I don’t have to fumble around in my pocket every time I want to turn the Zen on.

I’ll post more thoughts on the remote soon – including some photos of the backwards/upside-down button layout…
