The session on “Reaching your users when their computer is off: Auxiliary Displays” was pretty interesting. They showed off an Asus prototype laptop with this auxiliary display, and gadgets for Windows Vista Sideshow that could show Outlook calendar items, control Windows Media Player, etc. Pretty nifty stuff.
They also showed off the emulator that comes with the SDK, that will give you virtual hardware display to code against. Handy, since you can’t buy a computer with one of these displays yet. There aren’t even any announced that I know of, but I’m sure that will change as Vista nears launch next year.
