Practically in the Stone Age

So we’re in the middle of all the paperwork for buying a house. Just found out that our lender wants a statement explaining why our income went down from 2003 to 2004 (because my wife quit working in the middle of the year when Emma was born, so she could be a stay at home mom).

I explained this in an email, but our mortgage broker says they need a signed statement. So, I wrote up a quick statement to that effect in Word, printed it out, signed it, took a digital photo, and emailed him the photo of the signed document.

I’m having a cognitive dissonance trying to understand why an emailed digital photo is acceptible, but an email containing the exact same text explanation isn’t…

Guess I’m just a little too digital. I try to live paperless as much as I can, and sometimes I forget that the rest of the world doesn’t think the same way I do. :-)

  1. I switched insurance agent / company because my Farmers agent didn’t believe in email. I told him “I didn’t think he would be around in the insurance business much longer”.

All my insurance business is handled through email these days. It is nice.
