TinyPodcast 2005-12-13 – M-Audio Microtrack Initial Review

I picked up an M-Audio Microtrack 24/96 digital recorder, and have spent about 24 hours with it so far. Here’s a short audio review (5 minutes, 2MB) of the device, as I was telling Brian and some others about it during a Blogging Academy session today.

The show was recorded on the Microtrack device, with the intro being recorded on the included little stereo mic, and the rest being recorded on the Shure 8900 dynamic mic that I usually use for TinyPodcast.

Quality isn’t the greatest, but I’m only starting to use this new recorder, as well as switching from Audacity to Adobe Audition for editing and post processing, so this should mark the beginning on what I hope will be a big jump in the audio quality of TinyPodcast.

    Sorry to hear about your problems with the CF cards. I ordered a 2 GB card with my M-Audio and immediately formatted on the device. I haven’t had any problems at all, knock on wood. I find the audio quality is excellent and the short Podcast I do solely on the M-Audio I don’t have to post-process at all. What I found is to get the best audio quality I hold the M-Audio in front of my mouth rather than set it down on a table. After all, this is how you typically record with a “real” microphone.
