Samsung i730: WM2003SE and WM5 side by side

DSCN2623, originally uploaded by JoshB.

Snapped this photo when my friend Tom came running downstairs to show me the WM5 upgrade he had just put on his Samsung i730 – that was how I first found out about the availablility of the “unofficial” ROM upgrade.

His WM5 unit is on the right, mine is one the left, still running Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. Within a couple of hours, though, mine had also been upgraded. :-)

    Hey Josh,

I’m considering having Verizon upgrade my Samsung i730 to WM5 from WM2003 and have heard mixed reviews as to gains/glitches(unit freezing up among other things). Are you still a big fan of WM5 vs WM2003 and would you still recommend upgrading?

Thx for any perspective you can share.

    Best,
    Mickey

I’ve had nothing but trouble with the update. With 2003 everything ran smoothly, since the update my phone lags doing simple tasks, and especially aggrivating is when it goes blank when a call comes in and won’t allow me to answer until it’s done lagging.
