No interest in the domain giveaway?

I haven’t had a single response to the first Domain Name Giveaway I posted, for whiteonorange.com.

Maybe nobody is really interested, and it’s not as clever a name as I thought it was. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway, if you’re interested in the domain, post a comment telling me what you’d use it for, and it’s yours. I’ll check the comments at the end of the week, and pick a winner, but as of now, your odds of snagging it are pretty high. :-)

  1. I’ve been searching for a great white fish. An ono actually. Their location extends across part of the Pacific and includes Hawaii. I have been looking for a website where I can display maps of where this monstrous (and delicious) fish may be hiding.

Unfortunately the good names have already been taken, that is until I happened upon your site. It would be perfect for what I have in mind.

    “White Ono Range Dot Com”

Please transfer the name to my agent Ishmael as soon as expedient. Thank you.

PS: Would you happen to be sitting on the domain name “Whales Exchange Dot Com” too?

  2. Can I use this domain to sell my stove? John nixed my pick of avocado when we moved in here and went with boooorrring white. I’m thinking of replacing it with a wolf 6 burner.

  3. Does it come in whiteonorangethemovie.com? If so, I would like it because I’m sure there will be a blogging movie someday, and I could sell it for $$$ to the movie studios. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Ahab-san,

I like fish, but please do not cook it. My husband had an unfortunate accident. Do you know Jodie Foster?

  5. I WISH! Silence of the Lambs is one of my favorite movies! Oops, sorry, I hope I’m not scaring you. I’m not a cannibal really, though I think I have a few on my shi^H^H^Hyacht. Superstitious heathens all.

But enough about me. Tell me more about yourself.

  6. I’m really quite close to the sea. Many critics say my music is like the sound of a porpoise or a whale. But please do not call me whale. I’m not so heavy as that. When you come over you can see my wedding album and see for yourself. I think you might be able to pick up a copy on the internet too.

Oh! Did I just invite you over?! This is moving so fast.

  7. Dearest Yoko,

Thank you so much for the invitation. Right now I’m pretty much tied up at work. I’m underwater. When I get free I’ll shoot you a line and we can hook-up. Looking forward to it.

    Cap’n A.

  8. Hi… I was thinking of asking you about it, but thought my idea wouldn’t be good enough to get it.

I wanted it to make a RSS Tutorial site, on how to use RSS, where to get RSS feeds, etc. I think the name is cool, and when I first read it, the RSS icon is what came to mind for me.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

  9. I agree that a name like that is begging for a advocay/news/review site dedicated to RSS. You’re right in that it is just so simple and evocative.

But what is RSS? Right now most people are using it to publish and subscribe to a bunch of blogs or some other content publishers in an aggregator. Sure that’s great, but that’s just the start.

How about automatically having all your bookmarks available at each computer you use?

Publishing class schedules and exams so that all your students automatically have them in thier calendars?

Notifying development teams of source code commits as they happen?

Even cross platform system integration. Like the display plugins for WordPress, but the ease of crosslinking articles of Bloglines “blogthis”? Not a problem, publish from one and import in the other.

All that is what’s possible today, but not what most people think of when they think about RSS, and that needs to change.
