Josh’s Lifelog for 2008-11-05

  • @dswiese Yeah, my blog host has been having issues all week. Were you looking for a netbook recommendation, or a source of reviews? #
  • Just advised a loud impromptu meeting in the kitchen area that they might want to take their discussion of sensitive legal issues elsewhere. #
  • It was really nice to fill my gas tank this morning and only pay $30 (it was $2.39/gal, though I saw $2.10/gal at Costco this week). #
  • Saw @penmachine tweet that Michael Crichton has died of cancer. Went to Wikipedia for more info, found this: http://tinyurl.com/56tr5r :-) #
  • “Crichton died on Nov 5, 2008, after a long, private battle with a velociraptor.” :-) Somehow, I think he’d appreciate that joke. #
  • Remember the Milk releases their iPhone app. I’m looking forward to trying it. RTM lets me keep my tasks in the cloud with everything else. #
  • Remember the Milk blog post on the iPhone app: http://tinyurl.com/59dccg Requires a paid RTM Pro account, which I don’t know if I want yet. #
  • I know people love OmniFocus for tasks, but I have 2 problems with it. 1) it’s not “in the cloud”, and 2) it’s really freaking expensive. #
  • @mattg I don’t have that many tasks in RTM (mainly because I haven’t had a nice mobile way of using it). I’ll take your word for it. :-) #
  • @SuperSpiker I haven’t looked closely at toodledo.com, but it looks interesting. Comparing to RTM now. RTM has Gmail and Gears integration. #
  • @AndruEdwards Yeah, but then I have to screw around with MobileMe, WebDAV, or Bonjour. RTM is a native internet app. That’s my gold standard #
  • @sumwan I *believe* that RTM lets you share/assign tasks, but I’m not sure. The thing I love most is how well it fits into my Google life. #
  • @sumwan Yes, it looks like RTM does support sharing/sending of tasks: http://tinyurl.com/5uqh2j #
  • @todd_logan You’re welcome. I’ve made it my mission to stalk/follow all of you Logan brothers. 😉 #
  • @billpearson Sounds like a fun panel. Say hi to @xenijardin for me! :-) #
  • Suddenly most of my music seems dystopian and pessimistic and depressing. I need happy, upbeat, hopeful music today. :-) #
  • These stupid hard iPhone earbuds keep spontaneously falling out of my small ears. Yes, I’m going to keep complaining about this. :-) #
  • @jonathancoulton needs to cut an updated version of “The Presidents” now. :-) #
  • @jezlyn I’m ranting about my ongoing broken headphone situation. My Sony buds died, I’m using my iPhone set until Apple’s new buds come out. #
  • @randymatheson Yeah, my ears just aren’t made for the Apple earbuds. Too small. They hurt and they fall out. I love in-ear isolating buds. #
  • @garotasemfio Thanks! I’m thinking I’m going to give RTM (and task management in general) another shot. #
  • @billpearson Larry Brilliant has the Best. Name. Evar. :-) #
  • @spinnerin That’s… disturbing. I can’t find any emergency on the local radio/news sites. Wonder what it was for? #
  • @spinnerin @StevenWalling says that there’s something up on the (closed) Morrison bridge. Quick search = accident http://tinyurl.com/6mzf9t #
  • Holy crap. The NYTimes linked to my blog post on Michael Crichton being killed by a velociraptor! http://tinyurl.com/65o5gb #
  • Try this one: http://tinyurl.com/5obzlk NYT urls don’t like to be tinied. Look under “Headlines Around The Web”. AP, CBS, LATimes and me. :) #
  • I just updated my blog post with a link/screenshots of the NYTimes linking to me, if that TinyURL doesn’t work 4u http://tinyurl.com/5mhnww #
  • @jezlyn No new buds yet. Holding out for the Apple ones. At my desk, I plug into my MBP instead of phone. The new MBPs work with the button. #
  • @jezlyn Yeah, I have an adaptor, but I figure I can either buy more Sony’s that will fall apart, or give the new Apple buds a try. #
  • @turoczy @spinnerin apparently there was an accident on the I-5 SB ramp on the Morrison bridge, and it’s closed. :-( #
  • @lyzadanger The TriMet rider alert page just says the 15 bus will “use alternate routing”, doesn’t say where. http://tinyurl.com/3xugez #
  • @billpearson Oh, sure. I’ve been talking about CoolIris/PicLens for months, but when John Doerr recommends it, THEN you download it. 😉 #
