  • @JRinPDX I haven’t heard of Twithive. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks! in reply to JRinPDX #
  • @jpc101 Believe it or not, I’ve never actually used Twitterfon, but I always hear great things about it. in reply to jpc101 #
  • I think Google Quick Search is finally fast and robust enough to be a full-fledged Quicksilver replacement for me. I miss some plugins, tho. #
  • @corvida You can send links to Tweetie from the browser. Change http:// to tweetie:// – there are steps to build a bookmarklet on the site. in reply to corvida #
  • Got 3.0 loaded on my iPhone 3G. Now, to explore all the nooks and crannies! #
  • I *LOVE* the new Home button controls in 3.0. Switch between Home/Search with one click. I have two clicks set to launch the camera. Sweet! #
  • Another little 3.0 nugget: a search bar at the top of the List view in Calendar. #
  • @1tonyjones Voice control is a hardware feature in the iPhone 3G S. in reply to 1tonyjones #
  • @1tonyjones I’ll try out Voice Control on Friday morning, and let you know how it goes. πŸ™‚ in reply to 1tonyjones #
  • The App Store changed in 3.0. Now has “More”, which takes you to “Updates” and “Redeem”: http://twitpic.com/7n2c5 #
  • @morganpdx Hit the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time to snap a screenshot. It will be saved in your Camera Roll. #
  • OK, so now Notes sync in iPhone 3.0. I’ve checked the box. I made a test note. But where the heck did the note sync *to* on my Mac? #
  • Thanks everyone (Notes sync into Mail.app). I don’t use Mail.app, but it’s no big deal, because I don’t use Notes either. πŸ™‚ #
  • @jezlyn Mail search’s “Continue on Server” looked promising, but alas, it doesn’t seem to work with Gmail over IMAP. in reply to jezlyn #
  • One really cool iPhone 3.0 feature I haven’t seen many people talking about: shake to undo. #
  • @akfarrell @bljarv EXACTLY like an Etch-a-Sketch. It’s brilliant. And since there’s no other way to “undo”, I suspect I’ll use it often. πŸ™‚ #
  • Wow, with all those responses, I hereby dub the iPhone 3.0 “shake to undo” feature the Etch-a-Sketch Maneuver. πŸ™‚ #
  • RT @gruber: iPhone 3.0 tip: If you select a portion of an email before replying, only the selected portion is quoted in the reply. #
  • Now that iPhone 3.0 is out, and the iTunes store servers are apparently melting and leaking under the door, what are these great 3.0 apps? #
  • How come I can’t hold/copy/paste on some web pages, like http://friendfeed.com/iPhone/? I hold, and nothing happens. Other pages are fine. #
  • @davewiner Dave, try the app AudioBoo (free) to post audio to Twitter. Very slick, and emits RSS 2.0! No affiliation, just think it’s cool. in reply to davewiner #
  • iPhone 3.0 Voice Memo pro tip: hold the phone upside down, Home button above the screen. App rotates, mic is now on the top. Mo’ betta. #
  • I tried iPhone Voice Memo screen rotation because Griffin’s iTalk recorder app does it. Much easier to aim the mic at the sound source. #
  • Upgrading @rachelbancroft’s first gen iPhone to 3.0. I’m going to waterfall my current 3G to her when I get my 3G S on Friday. #

  • @Furrier Thanks, John. We actually have three shows every Tuesday (well, most Tuesdays), so come back at 10AM and 2:30PM Pacific! πŸ™‚ in reply to Furrier #
  • Just went live with @tersteeg’s show on @isntv, Parallel Programming Talk. Come watch/chat with us if you’re a coder. http://bit.ly/isntv #
  • Doing something we haven’t tried before on @isntv – two remote video feeds, along with our “in studio” host. We’ll see how it goes! #
  • RT @chrismessina: RT @ruv: Wow, Amazon release Kindle Source Code, http://bit.ly/MGDPd (whoa! Never saw that coming!) #
  • RT @isntv: Looking for something to do during the Twitter downtime? Come talk game development LIVE at 2:30PM http://bit.ly/isntv πŸ™‚ #
  • Happy Birthday @emmabancroft! I hope you had a felicitous day of celebration, my little Wordgirl! πŸ™‚ http://twitpic.com/7l16v #
  • Tweetdeck for iPhone is REALLY good. I’m a loyal Tweetie fan, but I’m going to have a brief dalliance. (Tweetie is still King on Mac tho!) #
  • Testing images in Tweetdeck for iPhone: Emma at the Beaverton Farmers Market – http://twitpic.com/7ljwy #
  • That wasn’t good. Tweetdeck just crashed to the Home screen… #
  • I can’t quite figure out how to access multiple accounts in Tweetdeck. I’ve added a second, but where is it? #
  • Hmm. It seems you have to add a new “All Friends” column to a new account in Tweetdeck before you see it. Understandable but not intuitive. #
  • @jezlyn I love Twitterrific. I happily paid for it. But I use Tweetie way more. It’s faster, and feels like the Twitter app Apple would make in reply to jezlyn #
  • Just so you all know, I keep three paid Twitter apps on my phone: Tweetie, Birdhouse, and Twitterific. I’m a collector of fine Twitter apps. #
  • One Twitter app doesn’t have to replace another for me. I’ll keep and recommend Tweetdeck because it’s outstanding software. I’d pay for it. #
  • @diancrawford You need to setup a Tweetdeck account to sync custom columns. That’s a killer feature. I’ll definitely mess with it tomorrow. in reply to diancrawford #
  • @diancrawford Yeah, I haven’t played with the Tweetdeck account/column sync thing yet. Hope it goes smoothly! in reply to diancrawford #
  • I’m thinking Tweetdeck on iPhone appeals most to the hardcore Twitter geeks like us. Tweetie is a more zen experience. Or something. πŸ™‚ #
  • One feature Tweetie desktop has that I wish would come to the iPhone is threaded DM conversations. They’re SO nice – just like threaded SMS! #
  • @geekgiant You caught that, huh? πŸ™‚ I typed it up in Tweetie on the Mac, but it wouldn’t post, so I copy pasted into the browser. Busted! in reply to geekgiant #
  • If for no other reason, Tweetdeck is great as strong competition for Tweetie and T’rific. No laurel resting for @atebits and @chockenberry! #

  • RT @IgnitePortland Announcement: Come to Ignite Portland 6, no ticket needed: http://bit.ly/ip6tix #ip6 #
  • Already seeing people talking about setting up tents to camp out for @IgnitePortland 6. I really hope no one actually DOES it. πŸ™‚ #ip6 #
  • I need help from tweeps in the Beaverton area: 20 pages printed out for Emma’s b-day party tomorrow. Our printer’s busted. Can anyone help? #
  • @clint Yes, I typed “tweeps”. It was shorthand for “my dear friends who also happen to use Twitter, to whom I’m appealing for a favor”. πŸ™‚ in reply to clint #
  • Dictionary.com iPhone app update today: WTH happened to the Word of the Day? Effluence/charango! Huh? http://twitpic.com/7iw6p #
  • RT @alyankovic: My new video “Craigslist” is now up on YouTube… in glorious HD! http://tinyurl.com/mdcscr (ZOMG awesome homage to The Doors) #
  • As early as I have to get up for @isntv Show Day tommorrow, I should have been in bed long ago. Prepping Emma’s Wordgirl b-day party… #

  • Oh hey, today’s the day analog TV dies in the US. I only get 2 digital channels. Tried various antennae. Guess we’ll watch less TV! πŸ™‚ #
  • Just recanned channels, picked up 1 more (some switched between VHF and UHF). Now we get KOPB, KGW, and KPDX (still no KATU, KOIN, or KPTV). #
  • We’ll live with those channels until I get a magic antenna. As long as my kids can watch PBS and we can watch The Office in HD, we’re OK. πŸ™‚ #
  • @LeStew I have a digital TV, no cable. Why pay for commercials? Lots of RF interference in our ‘hood. Makes OTA TV a pain. Oh well! πŸ™‚ in reply to LeStew #
  • RT @davewiner: Flickr: Flickr to Twitter Beta. http://tr.im/oiRp #
  • Re: Hulu, we use it sometimes, but quality is disappointing compared to OTA HD. We’re fine, I promise. We don’t need that much TV! πŸ™‚ #
  • Testing Crossposting Flickr to Twitter via Email http://flic.kr/p/6vQHA8 #
  • @jezlyn I’d rather use Flickr than Twitpic or anything else to tweet pics, since I put all of my other photos there, anyway. in reply to jezlyn #
  • @jezlyn Oh, I know. But I have FF set to only pass on things I write there. Otherwise, an infinite causality loop occurs. πŸ˜‰ in reply to jezlyn #
  • @jezlyn Yup, we just use it differently. For me FriendFeed is for tying together all of the places I do stuff – my “tubes” – and discussion. in reply to jezlyn #
  • Dear #LazyTwitter: what’s the best *paid* weather app? Is WeatherBug Elite worth the $0.99? I want animated radar and pinpoint conditions. #
  • @mike_strock I don’t want to download and *try* them all. I’ll happily pay $0.99, but not x4 to try a bunch of similar apps I won’t keep. in reply to mike_strock #

  • Played with a friend’s iPhone that has 3.0 (he’s a dev), and Safari is MUCH faster at javascript-y stuff. Google Reader is much snappier. #
  • Guess what? Google Lattitude now works on iPhone, thanks to the new mobile version of iGoogle: http://twitpic.com/76c90 #
  • @jezlyn Yeah, Google Lattitude only kinda sorta works via iGoogle on iPhone. You can only view. App definitely needed. πŸ™‚ in reply to jezlyn #

  • RT @isntv: Join us live for Parallel Programming Talk in 30 minutes! The “behind the scenes” cam will be on until then: http://bit.ly/isntv #

  • Our first live @isntv show since we broke cover went off without a hitch. @jerry_makare is a rock star! Next show is at 10AM. #
  • ZOMG these mad 15 minute rushes leading up to going live, where so many little things go wrong, are going to KILL me. πŸ™‚ #
  • Behind the scenes: @psteinb rocking his Teach Parallel show on @isntv: http://twitpic.com/6zeca #
  • I don’t know if it’s the stress, or I’m coming down with something, but I feel achy and awful. πŸ™ Two more live shows to do today. Whee! #
  • Doing 4 live shows in one day takes a lot out of you. πŸ™‚ Last of today, @davest and @billpearson is on right now. http://bit.ly/isntv #

  • Watching the liveblogs of WWDC in the JF1 living room area on the big TV with @gwynnebaer and @blogan. Not doing my own meta-liveblog. #
  • @ejacqui says an email PR blast went out: OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard available in September for $29! #
  • That TomTom iPhone app and accessory car kit is HOT. I’ll buy that in a heartbeat. #wwdc #
  • @rlux Yes, they said the TomTom iPhone app will have a mic and voice dialling. in reply to rlux #
  • Woo hoo! 7.2MBps HSDPA on the iPhone 3GS! Yes! I’m ALL OVER that! πŸ™‚ #wwdc #
  • Well, I know where I’ll be the morning of June 19. πŸ™‚ #iphone3GS #wwdc #
  • @mike_strock I didn’t hear anything announced about how Voice Control will work with a headset, but I bet it will work. in reply to mike_strock #
  • @WiredPig Actually, I’m not sure which store we’ll be at. The online preorder thing is pretty appealing (get it delivered free on launch). in reply to WiredPig #
  • @gregleff I do have a 3G. Last time, they gave all existing iPhone owners the (lower) upgrade price. I expect the same this time. in reply to gregleff #
  • @1tonyjones @gregleff re: high 3GS upgrade prices for existing iPhone customers on AT&T. My guess is they haven’t finalized their policy yet #
  • @pdxmark2 I believe the AT&T iPhone upgrade process will sort itself out, but I’m following closely. Worst case, I upgrade my wife’s phone. in reply to pdxmark2 #
  • RT @codinghorror: huge sale on Rock Band/Guitar Hero stuff at Gamestop: http://bit.ly/2uoLs Half off everything, incl. the full bundles!!! #
  • Just checked my acct on AT&T’s site. My phone is eligible for cheap iPhone on 12/11 (18 mos after 3G Launch Day). My wife’s is eligible now. #
  • @MaverickNY I bought on iPhone 3G launch day, which IIRC was July 11, 2008. So, upgrade period is 18 months, apparently. in reply to MaverickNY #
  • @BrianEnigma That December eligibility date should be 18 months from when you bought your iPhone 3G (mine is 12/11/09). in reply to BrianEnigma #
  • RT @GlennF: AT&T speaks to Ars on tethering, iPhone 3G S upgrades http://arst.ch/315 (via @arstechnica) In short: 18 mo. to get new pricing #
  • Don’t forget to tune into @isntv tomorrow, starting at 8AM, for our LIVE shows. It’s Big Launch Day! http://bit.ly/isntv πŸ™‚ #
  • Hey, are any of the cool apps Apple demoed at WWDC today available yet? Or are they all for OS 3.0? #
  • Thinking I’ll just pre-order my iPhone 3GS to simplify things, but still go out on launch day to wait in line with friends. Geek bonding. #
  • Oh, did I tell you? Got to play with a Palm Pre today. It’s really small. Felt good in my hand. But… #
  • The webOS on the Pre felt really confusing. “Swipe Up” for menus, launcher, etc. was unintuitive in the minute or so I had it. #
  • Pre’s 8gb max storage and lack of video recording is even harder to swallow with the advent of the iPhone 3GS. Still, it’s a great device. #
  • @Durf They did say the new iPhone camera has a macro mode. Which is most welcome. in reply to Durf #
